This term i didn't partake personally in the RISE initiative, however, I had the privilege of sitting in on Mel and Alexandra's reflection session. I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to observe and contribute to their reflections as it provided not only another perspective/opinion for the participants, but it also gave me an opportunity as a beginning teacher to observe the process prior to completing it myself.
It was extremely interesting watching the girls reflect on themselves, I found the situation very confronting having to critique a colleague, however, the girls were extremely encouraging and created a safe environment for me to feel comfortable to do so. I also found that they came to the meeting having already critiqued themselves which just showcased how they are already great at self-reflection and critiquing themselves as reflective learners. This is something I strive to be and hope when I conduct this task I will accept constructive criticism, as well as they did. Both created fantastic goals for future learning and discussed ways in which they can achieve their learning goals. Alexandra will be focusing on a more concise introduction of texts and Mel will aim to differentiate the maths starter. After having watched the girls reflect on their own learning through rich discussions I am much more confident and able to partake in the next round of V.O.Ps.
