This term I had a new RISE partner in Mel Miles which was great - we were both on the same page which made our discussion really relevant and constructive.
My focus was on providing feedback to an individual student regarding his reading with a focus on punctation. The student actually knew what I was going to say before I said it!
The noise level in the room was very distracting and I was surprised at how high the volume was when looking back at the video. I will aim to use non verbal cues or implement a system that doesn’t require me to actually interrupt the guided reading session but still remind the students of the appropriate volume.
My feedback was also something I wanted to look at and focus on making that very specific to the child’s needs. A challenge will be to use that direct and focused feedback with a small group of children. The feedback I gave the individual student was really focused and specific to him which was great but now I need to look at expanding on that to a small group of students.
