R.I.S.E Cycle Term 1, 2019
In Term 1, 2019 I began my R.I.S.E journey. This process provides the teachers at St Christopher’s with the opportunity to Record, Immerse, Self-reflect and Evaluate our teaching practice. Each staff member is paired with another colleague from a different grade. The process is unique in its design and provides teachers to connect with their colleagues while developing each others practice. As quoted by Robert John Meehan “The most valuable resource that all teachers have is each other. Without collaboration our growth is limited to our own perspectives”.
This term our R.I.S.E cycle focused on ‘Feedback’. I decided to look at the teacher feedback provided in my writing conferences with students. While I reflected and discussed my practice with my R.I.S.E partner it became clear that the language used was constructive and specific, however, a greater connection and understanding was needed from the students.
Therefore, to conclude the R.I.S.E cycle, my partner and I reflected on the teacher feedback provided and designed my R.I.S.E goal for Term 2. My Goal: By the next R.I.S.E.cycle I will ensure that I have explored the purpose of each writing goal. This will be evidenced through teacher to student feedback. This will focus and deepen the feedback I provide to my students and ensures it is purposeful and meaningful to them.
