The R.I.S.E review done this term was reflecting on the specific feedback I gave a student (Patrick) in my class, following completion of his first cycle of informative text. In English the school is using a Bump It Up (B.I.U) wall with exemplars to identify what goals they have achieved and how they can successfully taking their writing to the next level.
My identified goal from last term was to :
1.Have students identify what their writing goal is and demonstrate how they are working towards this utilising specific examples from their writing. Lauren reviewed my recent video and we agreed that this goal was achieved.
After reviewing my video we both discussed the content and reflected on an appropriate and achievable goal for next term. The goal we identified for this term was:
1. Provide examples, words, visual prompts or phrases to assist them with how to move forward with their goal. I used a 3 Stars and a wish stamp and asked students to self reflect prior to me giving specific feedback. This stamp gives them something to take with them. I love Lauren's suggestion to have exemplars on hand and to model how to include specific language such as the language of generalisation to stretch their entences and take their writing to the next level.
