*R.I.S.E Week Journal Reflection *

I was paired with Samantha O’Brien (Mathematics Coordinator) from year 3. We had some great dialogue about both of our videos and from this I learnt a lot about my teaching practise. Samantha’s video was a whole class lesson with her Newman Mathematics class. It was interesting to get an insight into how a whole class Mathematics lesson is run in Stage 2, as I haven’t taught that stage yet.

Knowing that Samantha is the Mathematics Coordinator, I chose to film myself during a small group instruction during my Mathematics groups. Samantha offered some insightful feedback on my strengths and weaknesses during the lesson.

Once we both discussed both our strengths and weaknesses we decided on our goal.

Samantha suggested that my goal should be allowing students to run the sessions by providing open problem solving opportunities. I am very excited to begin this journey with my students and to see if they are more engaged in this type of task.

Glad to read this post about the whole class Mathematics lesson and how Samantha did all in a well mannered way. We all want such class teachers and from the

royalessays.co.ukI read that these things really help when we get paired with some other teacher because we learn from each other's experience.
